Naked Fans and Running against Depression

It's always fun to find out you have a blogfan while standing naked in the shower. This morning a fellow swimmer whom I've never met leaned around the stall and asked if I was Sarah-of-Waterblogged, and told me she reads and enjoys this spot. Hot shower on tired shoulders, primed to grab my Borrone Americano, and finding out I have a fan. Can't get better than that if you ask me. Especially after this workout (I'm posting Thursday's workout as well because it was just SO good). ALSO, if anyone is up for a last minute run workout for a cause tomorrow (Sunday at 10AM, a very civilized time), DO sign up for the Jenny's Light 5K in Los Gatos. As I've written about before, postpartum depression is a highly worthy cause and all of us who have had any experience with it thank you for coming out! Today: *warmup: 5 x 200's free add fins for: *5 x 250's (odd free to back by 50's; even free to kick by 50's) remove fins and add paddles for: *6 x 300'

Flu swim

I don't have it, but my kid does, and that sucks. So does sleeping on the floor next to a hot little feverish body :(. But, I swam it all out this morning. Sigh. *warmup: 400 free, 100 back, 200 free, 100 back add fins for: *100 free, 100 kick, 100 back *75 free, 75 kick, 75 back *50 free, 50 kick, 50 back *25 free, 25 kick, 25 back *9 x 100's mixing free and back *100 free, 75 choice, 50 kick, 25 sprint repeat 2x

February Continues

Quote from the lane this morning: "You guys go ahead. I've done 13,000 yards in the last two days and I'm feeling it." Yah, you're going to feel 13,000 yards in two days. You people are nuts. But I love you. *warmup: 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 add paddles for: *600, 450, 300, 150 pull option for: *450, 375, 300, 225, 150

Happy Valentine's Day

This morning's workout was a good way to come down off the sugar of shirtless (for the kids of course) cookie decorating yesterday afternoon. Phew! *warmup: 5 x 200's free add pull gear for: *600, 300, 100 fast *500, 250, 100 fast *400, 200, 100 fast XO!

Good tunes

This is what I swam to (in my head of course) this morning. I get chills every time I watch the video. Awesome. Short stuff today...lots of 50's and drill. My brain will not recall the exact sets. Too much rap music, I guess.

More mornings, please.

Yes, I will admit over and over that my husband does it right when it comes to child care. But would it really be SO HARD for him to give me more than four swim mornings per week? I mean, I'm home by 7:15. He says the kids wake him up too early and he has to lie still, stiff as a board, from 5 to 6 AM so as not to rouse the troops into a morning stampede downstairs for a game of pre-dawn hoops. Hmph. The mornings I stay home it seems as though the rascals are not up until 7, or even 7:15. Imagine that.

In defense of Phelpsi

Poor Michael Phelps. I mean really, is it so bad, at 23, to be doing a bong hit? I think he deserves one or quite a few (maybe 8) - especially after 8 Olympic gold medals. Give the guy a little down time, shouldn't we? The press is so brutal...and hey, it could be a lot worse. How disappointed would we all be to find out he did steroids or somehow wasn't as naturally bad-assed in the pool as we all think he is? Heck, smoking a bowl should decrease his performance, not enhance it, so I'd personally be even MORE impressed with him if I found out he was smoking out during the Olympics. But that's just me. In other news, it's February and the freak-a-zoids (no offense - I'd be doing it too if I didn't have things such as kids that demand and suck my energy) that tally up hundreds of thousands of yards this month are already out en force. Me? I'm at whatever we did today, and I'm feeling proud thankyouverymuch. *warmup: 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 *5 x 10
